THE RACE
The Carrera Cup Asia offers extremely exciting racing across the whole Asian region and is truly international with competitors from all over Asia, as well as Europe. It represents a combination of experienced touring and race drivers (class A) in addition to ambitious and talented gentlemen drivers (class B).
For the Porsche SC Global Carrera Cup Asia- Singapore 2010, SC Global Racing will be represented by the multi championship winner Craig Baird. The New Zealander has an impressive racing history, as season champion of the 2008 & 2006 Australian Carrera Cup and series champion of the New Zealand Carrera Cup for 4 consecutive years between 2005 & 2008. Currently second in the championship standings, this year marks Baird’s first full season with the Asian Cup, having competed as guest driver in last year’s Porsche SC Global Carrera Cup, coming second to 2009 championship winner Christian Menzell. The competition in the Singapore event looks set to be electrifying, as Baird looks to settle the score in Singapore and close the gap on championship points.
The 2010 season of the PCCA is host to a record number of drivers this year, with 23 drivers lining up on the gridline in Singapore, proudly bearing the SC Global name on the windscreen.

THE CAR
This year’s event is set to be even faster this year with the new stronger, wider and faster edition of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car. The new version of the car is for the first time based on the street legal 2010 GT3 RS version with the weight of the racing model reduced to just 1,200kg. The engine capacity has increased by 0.2 litres over the former model to 3.8 litres producing 30 more horsepower – the six cylinder horizontally-opposed power unit developing 450hp and a maximum engine speed of 8,500rpm
The superb new car which was built on Porsche's production line in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, is contesting in no fewer than seven Porsche one-make series this year: The Porsche Mobil1 Supercup; the Porsche Carrera Cups in Asia, Germany, Japan and Italy; and the GT3 Cup Challenges in the USA and Middle East.
HISTORY
The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) first blasted off the starting grid in 2003 and has never looked back. Joining the family of hugely successful Porsche “one make” series, which have seen tremendous following in USA, Europe, Scandinavia, Australia & Japan since as early as 1987, the PCCA has quickly become the premier sportscar series in the region, with a massive fan and media following.
In September 2008, the PCCA made its debut in Singapore as a support race at the first FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. To mark this historic event SC Global Developments partnered Porsche as the official real estate partner for the series and title sponsor for the Singapore event, which was renamed the Porsche SC Global Carrera Cup Asia - Singapore Event. The event was the group’s first foray into the high-octane world of motor racing and comes as a result of shared core values in design, innovation, excellence and success recognized in both Porsche and the sport.
Following the success of the inaugural Porsche SC Global Carrera Cup – Singapore 2008, the group have continued the partnership through 2009 and 2010. To strengthen SC Global’s exposure in the series, the group formed SC Global Racing and fielded an entry in the entire 2008 series, whilst in the 2009 and 2010 series, the team are focusing purely on its home race in Singapore.
